  • 2721742 Job Description Directs the human resources function, including recruitment and staffing, labor and employee relations, compensation and regulatory compliance, etc. at hospitals affiliated with Mount Sinai. Duties and Responsibilities: -Oversees the daily operation of the HR department, including managing work assignments and identifying and resolving ad hoc issues, and monitoring progress of ongoing department initiatives. - Provides administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of Human Resources protocols and procedures throughout Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) and Queens Hospital Center (QHC). -Collaborates with the Icahn School of Medicine, Hospital Administration, NYC Health + Hospitals, and Directors of Service to develop short term and long range plans; also serves as primary point-of-contact for HR related matters in order to maintain consistent standards, implement improvements. -Establishes goals and objectives for the department that are consistent with the policies of the Icahn School of Medicine, as well as federal, state and local regulations, including defining the scope of specific departmental projects and requirements necessary to meet the expectations of the institution. -Defines and documents procedures, identifies process and workflow changes for continuous improvement and implements best practices for greater efficiency. -Responsible for HR aspect of EEOC charges, lawsuits, Office of Professional Discipline requests; works collaboratively with the Office of the General Counsel, Hospital Administration, and NYC Health + Hospitals to investigate and present appropriate recommendations for resolution of such issues. -Negotiates or participates in the negotiations of union contract renewals and residual unit contracts. -Advises Administration and Directors of Service on all HR, labor and employee relations policies and procedures. -Strategically partners with departments to fill staffing needs and ensure adherence to the regulations of Title IV, EEO, AA, etc. as well as the union contracts. -Analyzes the salaries of new hires including physicians to ensure equity and compliance with policy and procedure. -Responsible for compliance with the Joint Commission HR requirements. -Performs all other related duties as needed. -Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; master's degree in related field preferred. -5 years of experience in Human Resources managerial role; health care or academic medical center is a plus; experience in strategic planning and execution, formulating policy, building and developing financial plans, managing resources and leading successful teams. -PHR or SPHR certification preferred. -Must have intermediate level skills in MS Word and Excel. -Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
