Job Summary: The -Director Annual Giving -will serve as a front-line gift officer who is responsible for developing and implementing fundraising plans to secure gifts of $1,000-$19,999 from grateful patients, community members, physicians and employees. The position will also manage the Annual Giving Program, including developing and executing long-term annual giving strategies that are aligned with major gifts. Reporting to the Senior Director Philanthropy, the Director Annual Giving is an essential member of the development team. The position plays an active role in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition of individual donors, elevating annual mid-level giving donors to major giving levels and meeting the overall Foundation department fundraising goal. This position manages the Manager Annual Giving and has shared reporting of the Development Coordinator who dotted line reports to this role and the Senior Director Philanthropy. Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects capable of making gifts of up to $19,999 with a heavy emphasis on retaining/upgrading existing donors and re-engaging past donors. This involves speaking to a variety of prospects and existing donors persuasively about the case for support and overcoming a variety of objections.
  • Manage the mid-level giving program of gifts $1,000 to $19,999 ensuring all aspects of the donor cycle are achieved. Coordinate program metrics and evaluation. Continue to renew, upgrade and acquire new donors within this range and move them through to major gift prospects of $20,000 and above.
  • Qualify prospects for potential major gift/planned giving capacity and interest. Provide appropriate background on prospects to be assigned to major gift or planned giving portfolios.
  • Coordinate the Bragdon Society, the physician mid-level giving recognition club. Working as a liaison with physician volunteer leaders, identity, cultivate and solicit physician donors. In coordination with Donor Relations, execute annual the Bragdon Society recognition event. -
  • Develop multiple-year plans for evolving the Annual Fund in terms of frequency and brand awareness with a focus on improving donor loyalty.
  • Oversee key Annual Fund projects including, but not limited to the Grateful Patient Program prospects into the Annual Fund, online giving, Annual Giving Societies, and Nursing STARS.
  • Identify opportunities to expand strategies through external resources and build internal institutional knowledge. Actively benchmark our Annual Funds program against peer institutions and propose the adoption of best practices as appropriate. License and/or Certification Required:
    • None Minimum Length and Nature of Experience Required:
      • Six (6) years or more of increasing responsible positions in development or a related field, preferably in healthcare/medical research/academic medical institution.
      • Prior experience in directly engaging constituents for fundraising purposes preferred or experience in sales or related fields. Special Knowledge and Skills Required:
        • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
        • Exceptional project management skills
        • Donor-centric mindset and approach
        • Understanding of emerging trends in Annual Giving fundraising
        • Ability to accept and process feedback and a collaborative working style are essential.
        • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact.
        • Strong work ethic and track record of personal initiative required. -
        • Fast-paced and results-oriented with the ability to work in a timely manner with multiple deadlines and competing requirements.
        • Must be flexible and adaptable in an emerging and changing environment. Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
          • Local travel as necessary to cultivate or solicit key prospects. Will require occasional nights and weekends. Equipment Utilized within the Scope of the Position:
