Job Description:
RN Clin Leader Cancer CenterGENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for
directing unit activities and personnel on assigned shift to ensure
high quality patient care, teamwork, and coordination of care.#
Determines work priorities, prepares daily work assignments,
approves overtime and monitors compliance for regulatory
requirements.# Serves as resource person for unit personnel in
resolving operation and patient care problems, acts as physician
liaison, and role model for staff. Location: Elmhurst Cancer
Center# 177 E Brush Hill Road# # Elmhurst, IL.# Hours: Full Time#
#Will work 80 hours in a two week payperiod.# Monday- Friday#
8:00am-4:30pm# No weekends or holidays. # PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:# (The following duties and responsibilities are
all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except those
that begin with the word #May.#) 1.######## Demonstrates the
knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the
age of patients served.# This includes knowledge of the physical
and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to
respond appropriately to those needs. Regularly performs duties of
professional nurse which includes assessing patients# condition,
developing####### and administrating patient plan of care,
documenting care administered, and evaluating patient
care############### outcomes. Assists in overseeing and directing
specific unit personnel to ensure effective, cost efficient and
safe provision of nursing care in accordance with established
standards. a.## Makes patient care assignments for each shift. b.##
Changes assignments appropriately according to unit/patient needs.
c.## Coordinates staff breaks to ensure continuity of patient care.
d. # Coordinates and ensures timely patient placement within unit.
e. ## Authorizes overtime for direct patient care needs. f.###
Oversees workflows to ensure timely patient admission and
discharge. g.## Works on routine unit based projects as assigned by
the Manager. h.## Reviews and edits the timekeeping system. i.###
Performs service recovery for patients, families and physicians.
4.######## Serves as resource person for patient care personnel and
aids in resolving questions related to policies, standards, and
patient care techniques and procedures.# Regularly assesses patient
satisfaction, investigating and interviewing for immediate
complaints or problems. a.## Ensures completion and follow up of
unusual occurrence reports and employee injury reports. b.##
Coaches others to maintain a clean and safe environment. 5.########
Demonstrates problem solving, conflict management, and customer
services skills to serve as role model and change agent for
corporate and unit based initiatives.# Serves as or ensures
appropriate preceptor support for new employees.# Coaches current
employees according to assessed needs.# # ### # 6.####### # In
collaboration with manager evaluates performance of assigned unit
personnel. 7.####### # Monitors compliance with regulatory agency
standards e.g., CLIA, JCAHO, IDPH.# ##Reinforces need to comply
with National Patient Safety Goals.# Performs or coordinates
assigned audits.## Oversees provision of adequate supplies and
equipment to provide appropriate patient care.# Follows up on
repairs/maintenance of equipment as needed.# #Develops and
maintains cooperative working relationships with a variety of
Hospital department personnel to schedule examinations, order
supplies, gather and exchange information, resolve operational
problems and improve services provided. Maintains collaborative
association with physicians to enhance teamwork of unit staff.#
Maintains an overall knowledge of all patients# status to act as
knowledgeable liaison with physicians. Identifies, develops and
implements quality initiatives for the unit.# Participates in
organization-wide quality initiatives. Maintains knowledge of
current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate
books, journals, and other literature and attending related
conferences, seminars and the like. # KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
ABILITIES REQUIRED: Required Education, Skills and/or Experience:
Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing - (Incumbents with
position entry date after Sept, 2011) Preferred Education, Skills
and/or Experience: Previous charge nurse experience Required
License and/or Certification: Current State of Illinois Registered
Nurse license Current CPR Certification issued by either American
Heart Association or American Red Cross Preferred License and/or
Certification: Certification in specialty # # # # # # ONC # # # # #
