and mitigate the technology risks of the University. Job Summary
The Manager, Microsoft and Cloud Infrastructure leads a team of
engineers responsible for the architecture, operation, and
modernization of Microsoft-based and hybrid cloud environments.
This role oversees Windows Server infrastructure, Microsoft 365 (A3
Suite, Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint), System Center
(SCOM/SCCM), PowerShell automation, and Azure, AWS, and Google
Cloud Platform. This position combines hands-on technical expertise
with strategic leadership, guiding the evolution of on-premises and
cloud services, improving automation, strengthening security, and
aligning technology with University goals. Responsibilities Leads
and mentors a team of systems engineers managing Microsoft
datacenter and hybrid-cloud infrastructure. Develops and executes
modernization strategies for Windows Server, M365, Azure, AWS and
Google cloud services. Collaborates with Identity and Access
Management Team regarding administration of Active Directory, Entra
ID, and hybrid identity synchronization (AD Connect). Ensures
reliability and performance of Microsoft 365 services, including
Exchange, Teams, One Drive and SharePoint Online. Directs
operations and lifecycle management for SCCM, SCOM, and PowerShell
automation frameworks. Partners with Information Security,
Networking, and Application teams to maintain secure, compliant
configurations. Coordinates monitoring, patching, incident
response, and system maintenance across on-prem and cloud
environments. Manages budgets, vendor relationships, and
service-level agreements. Collaborates with ITS leadership to
define metrics, reporting, and service improvement initiatives.
Researches and evaluates emerging Microsoft and cloud technologies;
leads proof-of-concept initiatives. Supports the University’s
academic and administrative missions by maintaining high service
availability and customer satisfaction. Manages a single team's
progress by maintaining accurate and up-to-date logs, ensures that
all projects have the necessary management oversight and approvals
for successful completion. Manages the creation of standards and
procedures to maintain production servers that run the operating
system. Manages the installation, configuration, and maintenance of
operating systems and utility software. Performs other related work
as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements
include a college or university degree in related field. Work
Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills
developed through 7 years of work experience in a related job
discipline. Certifications: Preferred Qualifications Technical
Skills or Knowledge: Extensive experience with Microsoft
technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Office
365, Azure). Strong understanding of cloud platforms, especially
Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). Knowledge of automation,
scripting (PowerShell), system integration, and virtualization
technologies (Hyper-V, VMware). Hands-on experience with cloud
migration, performance optimization, backup and disaster recovery
solutions. Proficiency in monitoring, security, and compliance
practices within cloud environments. Familiarity with networking
concepts, including VPNs, firewalls, and multi-site connectivity.
Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation proficiency. Preferred
Competencies Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills
Knowledge of modern security and compliance frameworks. Strategic
thinker able to translate goals into actionable plans. Excellent
communication and collaboration skills across technical and
non-technical teams. Work effectively in a hybrid on-prem/cloud
ecosystem. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop
technical teams. Strong project management skills, delivering
complex cloud and infrastructure solutions on time and within
budget. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; present
technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proven track
record of collaborating across departments to deliver
